About Us

Anglicans in Development Policy

What we do

  • Establish links between Anglicans and others whose work, studies or prayer life addresses international development issues.
  • Equip the Church to work and witness more effectively as part of the world movement against poverty, injustice and ecological degradation.
  • Encourage governments, multi-lateral institutions and NGOs to work directly with churches and other faith based communities and agencies as authentic civil society agents who are often best placed to deliver services and capacity building to local communities in the developing world.
  • Facilitate the sharing of information and best practice on current community, national and regional development initiatives carried out by Anglicans, and ecumenical partners.
  • Create new and pioneering partnerships between Anglican institutions and international development agencies for service delivery and institutional capacity building in the global south on issues relating to education, livelihoods, health-care and post conflict reconstruction.
  • Work closely on a limited number of geographical areas and specific topics alongside our Communion wide focus, to develop effective partnerships and praxis, which can be replicated throughout the Communion.
  • Triangulate relationships and host round-tables between Anglican, ecumenical interfaith and secular stakeholders to find innovative and sustainable approaches to community based development.
  • Focus the insights of the Archbishop of Canterbury and other Primates of the Anglican Church on International Development matters

What we don’t do

  • Receive or fund project proposals.
  • Write project proposals on behalf of others.
  • Work on community development projects in the UK.
