The Diocesan Relief team and the Pateka Community Based Organisation are happy to over come one of the primary challenges, that is, to bring fresh and clean water at the door steps of the Diocesan adopted earthquake affected villagers. The earthquake had shifted the flow of fresh water springs, broke the water pipes and destroyed the water reservoirs. 410 families of the villages were desperate for clean water. After numerous surveys, and few unsuccessful attempts, Diocesan teams have brought water under gravitational flow, 7km away from a village, Dara Kalesh. Reservoirs are constructed to store and distribute water to the villages, New galvanized iron pipes carry water to individual houses. The local villagers under the supervision and technical assistance of the Diocesan Development staff restored the waterlines.

The Diocesan sponsored Community Based Organisation is also sharing this water with some of the neighboring villages. We trust this endeavor will help promote new friendships, cleanliness and reduce water borne illnesses among the villagers. The women and children feel relieved, as they had to bring water on foot from far-fetched areas.

The affected villagers have already been provided with sixty (60) buffaloes. We trust through breeding the villagers will increase their livestock, thus have more buffaloes and more money.

The Church continues to strive for long term, sustainable development of these adopted villagers of Pateka.
